Update #8: Wings of Their Own

Dear Friends:

I apologize for not updating sooner.

We're going to be screened in Miami, Florida!

After a sold-out preview for "friends and family" of the 99 minute piece, July 26 at the New Community Cinema in Huntington, NY, we had a FABULOUS PREMIERE on November 29 at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Uniondale. We got press coverage from newspaper and television, including the New York Times! We were on TV three times, and I'm including clippings when I send out review copies.

We are still looking for distribution, and many of you are really helping. Bonnie Johnson got us a connection at Wichita PBS, and we hope they decide to run it. Wally Funk is telling all her friends, and a few of you who have come to the screenings got review copies and are having your own screenings for friends and family. We really want to get the word out.

The next screening will be at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival,
held at Club Flavour in Coconut Grove in Florida, Feb 11-13
"Wings of Their Own" shows Saturday February 12 at 2:10 pm
at AMC Theaters in Coconut Grove, Cocowalk. Tickets are $10.

We're starting to get calls for March, "Women's History Month". Abby is working on getting us into a program at the United Nations. And there are a few other opportunities as well.

The bad news is that so far we have been turned down by Oklahoma and North Carolina PBS as "too out of the box". And all but one film festival has also not accepted us, although Slamdance said to apply again next year. We are waiting to hear from Minneapolis and Chicago.

What you can do to help:

1. Contact your local PBS station and find out if we can send them a review copy, and to whom, specifically it should go.

2. If you have a website, or are a member of women/aviation websites, ask them to please put a link to this site, www.wingsoftheirown.com on their website. The more people link to us, the easier we will be to find in searches.

3. Send e-mail to wings@makebelievetv.com with suggestions.

If we don't have a distributor by the end of February, I will try to get $3,000 to start distributing it thru this site and on Amazon. (that cost includes Masters, UPC code, labels and authoring of the first 1,000 DVDs which I would like to sell for $19.95 plus shipping) Any investors out there?
