Update: Wings of Their OwnDear Friends:
It’s completed!
After another two weeks of intensive editing, including hardware replacement and making some VERY tough decisions on what to cut and what to replace, we now have a piece that is 99 minutes long with over 180 of you in it including a lot of great “shout outs”.
Review copies were sent to two local PBS stations: in Oklahoma City and in North Carolina to see if they might be interested in cosponsoring our launch into the national PBS system. Another review copy is in the hands of the Cinema Arts Center in Huntington, who are considering it for their special documentary festival in April where it could potentially run for a week and be “Oscar eligible” (oooohhh!) WE would love to do a real Premiere very soon, and let everyone know about it.
Yes, we made it into The New York Times. February 22. Also a few of the local magazines: Distinction and Networking Magazine and we’ve gotten calls from radio and news reporters for future stories.
After all that work, Mary’s very supportive husband/cameraman, Marc, took her to Cancun for a week, and (of course) she got more good airport shots to improve transitions. Then came back to find footage from the Navy of not only jets landing on carriers, but also an interview and shout out from Lt. Jeny Drake USN who flies a hornet.
The plan is to now get it into some more movie theaters, and to a few different distributors so we can make the best “deal” for the piece. We are also working on showing it at a university theater for a Special Screening. We want you all to be able to see it, and own copies at a reasonable price within a reasonable amount of time. Personally, I would like to see it widely distributed, and then played again next March for Women’s History Month and all those PBS pledge drives.
What do you think?
So watch the website for more news. Thank you all again for all your help and support.
Happy Vernal Equinox and a very pleasant Spring with
