Update: Wings of Their Own

Dear Friends:

It’s completed! Currently 99 minutes and including 183 out of 226 interviews.

Now the hard part of getting it out there to be seen, and distributed. So far we have entered it into the following film festivals:

• New York International Film Festivals ACCEPTED
Los Angeles September 30-October 11th
New York November 2004

• Independent Feature Project (IFP) Film Market Sept 19-24 - we’ll know by July 23

• Woodstock Festival Oct. 13-17 - they’ll notify end Aug/early Sept

• The Hamptons International Film Festival Oct 20-24

• Review copies were sent to two local PBS stations: in Oklahoma City and in North Carolina to see if they might be interested in cosponsoring our launch into the national PBS system. North Carolina called to say it was “too ‘out of the box’ for them’” and they would take it if it was cut down to an hour or made into a series with a narrator. Hmmmm. Let’s see if someone else wants it first. We may end up self-distributing and selling it on Amazon.com and a few other places. We know that you all want to see it, and potentially own a copy to share with friends and family.

• Back in March, we approached a local theater to do a premiere. They tell us that they are interested, but it has been very difficult to get them to commit to a specific date. Hopefully sometime in July or August, somewhere on Long Island, NY

• No corporate sponsors ever came through. Only a few actually reject us, and the others just never gave us an answer. We still need money to put up a good website to go with the film. We would like to link it to everyone who is in the film, as well as all the wonderful women pilot and aviation sites we found in our own researches. It was a lot of work tracking everyone down to participate, and it would be nice to have a “one-stop shopping” site where girls and women could go to find out where all the great info was.

What do you think?

So watch the website for more news. Thank you all again for all your help and support.

Good luck to all the Air Racers this year, and Happy Summer with

Fair Skies to All,
